As I sit here creating The Lucky Canadian website I am in China, but it is not the China most of us think about, the over crowded big polluted cities. No, I am on a small Island at the southern tip of China called Hainan, living in a quite neighborhood 5 minutes from the South China Sea, and long beautiful sandy beaches with no one on them.
Thirteen years ago, my wife took me on a holiday to her home country and we took a 10-day bus cruise of this tropical Island and visited truly great historic sites and fun events and I got to scuba dive after a very professional course. This had always been on my bucket list and to do it, while learning so many interesting and amazing things about the country and its culture, was in one word lucky.
Today after 13 years and 10 trips to China visiting various provinces, I know there are 2 China's, which scholars may argue but from my perspective there is Old China and New China. Old China was pre-Chairman Mao and New China has been the 70 years since 1949 China and the Communist Government.
Because I am not a Historian but rather a Relationship Adventurer this page of The Lucky Canadian will be dedicated to telling about the modern China and the many opportunities it offers the world.
Like all countries including Canada there have been good times and some growth times that we look back on and say how could that happen. China is no different but I am not going to get into the politics of right and wrong.
Instead I am going to highlight what I see as the many ways we as Global citizens can help positive development while participating in China's social services evolution and various business opportunities.
Just over two years ago there were major studies and reports on autism in China and millions of concerned people in China and abroad have done many innovative actions to address this big mental health care issue. So, while I am here, I am helping a group on the Island provide more advanced approaches to helping the 1% of 1.4 billion people (that is 14,000,000) who are autistic.
As a foreigner from a country with well established programs, developed in big part by the generosity of citizens who cared 50 years ago, I can play a role in researching and connecting the right parties so knowledge, training, and personal can shared. Anyone reading this page can send information and ideas through the Contact Us page.
On the business side of things, I have learned important values and attitudes that are important for dealing with Chinese business people and them dealing with Canadians. I will keep my Canadian mindedness when addressing anything to do with other cultures and that Canadianism is big on inclusive and respect for all cultures.
Anyone interested in the import or export of goods and services can contact The Lucky Canadian via the contact us page. Because the central government has made Hainan a duty-free port Island, there are many major advantages. Hainan is importing many clean industries and services as it wants to keep its fresh air and spring waters clear.
The Lucky Canadian can also help with the purchase of beautiful retirement and vacation properties as I became the first born in Canada foreigner owner of a modest home here 4 years ago. I learned a lot in the process and met all the right people to make it happen. The price of property on the island is much less then more well-known Chinese locations, plus the quality of life is truly exceptional.
